The 2015/2016 English Premier League season starts on Saturday 7th of August as Manchester United kick off against Tottenham Hotspurs at Old Trafford.
Both teams will not be at full as various players would be missing for different reasons. Manchester United would not be able to call on Marcos Rojo who would be missing due to his activities at the 2015 Copa America while David De Gea has been ruled out be manager Loius Van Gaal because of what he calls ‘not in the right frame of mind’.
LVG suggested on Friday morning that De Gea has his head turned on a move to Real Madrid. Meanwhile Tottenham goalie, Hugo Lloris is a doubt. According to Daily Star, Mauricio Pochettino said of his captain: “It was very positive today to assess him, but maybe he is not ready for 90 minutes. But it’s very important he is ready to come back.”
Arsenal would be missing as many as four players for the season opener. Arsene Wenger has revealed that Alexis Sanchez will not play in the first match of the season to avoid the redzone crisis he suffered last season. Danny Welbeck is missing for another two weeks with an injury, Jack Wilshere is facing three months on the sideline while Tomas Rosicky being his usual self has gotten injured again.
Manchester City boss, Manuel Pellegrini has said he would not be risking his players who participated in the Copa America. Sergio Aguero, Pablo Zabalete, Martin Demichelis and Fernandinho would miss the opener on Monday against West Brom.
Like Pellegrini, Jose Mourinho has decided to rest his stars who took part in the Copa America, hence the likes of Willian and Juan Cuadrado will miss the season opener.
Jefferson Montero (Ecuador and Swansea) and Carlos Sanchez (Colombia and Aston Villa) participated in the Copa but could see minutes depending on their managers decision.
Enner Valencia (Ecuador and West Ham) has been declared injured and would miss up to three months of action. The 25-year-old forward had given the Hammers the lead before being carried off on a stretcher in the 2-2 Europa League third qualifying round draw with Astra Giurgiu last week. Club-record signing Andy Carroll is also out injured.
