World’s No.1 female Tennis star, Serena Williams’ unbeaten 27-match run ended on Friday, May 8, 2015, after a shock defeat at the Madrid Open tournament.

The American Tennis star was beaten by World’s No.4, Petra Kvitová in straight-sets of 6 – 2, 6 – 3 in the semi-final clash.

Kvitova will now face Svetlana Kuznetsova in the final after she surprisingly knocked out the defending champion, Maria Sharapova.

Meanwhile, Serena Williams, who has not lost any match since October 2014, has blamed her defeat on exhaustion, but says it will help prepare her for the next tournament.

‘I’m just exhausted today. This has been a rough week for me,’ Williams told a news conference.

‘It’s good to be really exhausted now going into another tournament and then getting ready for Roland Garros. So, this is all great preparation that I actually really, really needed, something to push me to the wall and to the limit.’ She added.
