Former Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp says Mousa Dembele is facing a lengthy ban.

He wrote in the London Evening Standard: “Trouble always follows Diego Costa around but Mousa Dembele hasn’t got a leg to stand on over his FA charge for violent conduct.

“Monday’s game between Chelsea and Tottenham descended into a brawl in the second half in particular.

“Dembele won’t play again this season and rightly so. It didn’t look like he actually hurt Costa or properly gouged him but that isn’t the point — you can’t react like that no matter what the provocation.

“Costa can’t help himself. He goes out looking for it every week. I watched Atletico Madrid knockout Bayern Munich and there is a lot of Atletico still in Costa. They thrive on confrontation.

“Mousa isn’t an aggressive person or that type of character — he doesn’t go around kicking people every week. But he was out of order and will have to take his punishment.”
