Paris Saint-Germain defender Serge Aurier has been sentenced to two months in jail for violence against a police officer.
The 23-year-old elbowed his victim as he left a Paris nightclub in May, although he will remain free pending an appeal.
Aurier, who had pleaded not guilty to the charges, should be available to for PSG’sChampions League clash against Ludogorets on Wednesday.
“We’re appealing. Mr Aurier contests the findings. He’s not guilty and must be acquitted,” lawyer Claire Boutard de la Combe told reporters.
PSG are due to face Arsenal in the return fixture of their Group A campaign at the Emirates on November 23, following their 1-1 in Paris earlier this month.
Aurier has also been fined £521 and told to pay court costs totalling £1,300.
The news comes after a miserable start to the season for the Ivory Coast international.
