Concerned Arsenal fans have been caught on camera begging Mesut Ozil never to leave the club.
The German has undoubtedly been the Gunners’ best player in a disappointing season, as it looks increasingly likely that they will finish the season without silverware.
Arsenal are off the pace in the Premier League title race and are set to be dumped out of the Champions League by Barcelona this week.
It comes after Arsenal’s hopes of claiming a third straight FA Cup were ended by Watford on Sunday.
And Ozil was stopped by supporters as he left the Emirates following the disappointment.
While some Arsenal fans vented their frustrations with physical anger, others waiting for the players as they drove away from the ground.
Ozil’s plush Mercedes was stopped by supporters who chanted at their star player, with hosts of them begging the 27-year-old not to leave the club.
“Mesut, don’t leave, we love you,” one supporter can be heard shouting.
The road quickly cleared after supporters snapped photos on their phone of Ozil, who was able to drive away without major incident.
It is the second time this month that Arsenal fans have been caught pleading with Ozil not to leave.
But there is little danger of him indeed departing.
Ozil is the club’s most expensive ever signing and has not expressed a desire to leave the club in the near future. He has not been at the centre of any significant transfer talk ahead of the summer.
