Any particularly eagle-eyed fans of Italian football may have noticed something odd about the shirt Paul Pogba was wearing in his last game.
And no, we’re not talking about the fact it wasn’t a Barcelona/Chelsea/PSG jersey.
As you can see in the picture above, Pogba made one slightly bizarre modification to his Juventus shirt ahead of their 2-0 win against Atalanta. At first glance, it looked like he had used a marker pen to write “+5” next to the number 10 on his back.
This bizarre move provoked a host of wild theories from curious fans.
He doesn’t like wearing No10 and wants to go back to his old No6… and 1 + 0 + 5 = 6
He was doing a weird kind of tribute to Ivan Zamorano.
It was a secret message to the officals.
WRONG (and ridiculous).
No, the correct answer is that it wasn’t a “+5” at all. It was actually a “75”, which Pogba added to his shirt as a tribute to Pele, who turned 75 this week.
So, after all that, Pogba was simply sending a birthday message to a football legend.
