Sepp Blatter has been admitted to hospital after suffering a “small breakdown.”
FIFA’s outgoing president went for a check-up on Friday, but his lawyer Richard Cullen insisted the 79-year-old was “fine” and “expected to be home shortly.”
However, the Swiss official has now been admitted and is expected to receive treatment until next week.
Blatter’s spokesman, Klaus Stoehlker, told AFP: “He is now, at this moment in hospital. He is preparing to leave on Monday and will be back on the job on Tuesday.”
UEFA President Michel Platini and Blatter were both given 90-day bans following a Swiss probe into financial misconduct at FIFA.
But Stoehlker insisted Blatter would continue “his fight against the (FIFA) ethics committee” when he gets the all clear from doctors.
