The future of Branislav Ivanovic in Chelsea has been placed in doubt following reports that Jose Mourinho has begun the search for his replacement.

Over the years, the Serbia international has arguably been Chelsea’s most consistent performer but he has been their major weakness this season.

Ivanovic’s current contract with Chelsea will expire at the end of this season and even though Chelsea were planning to extend it for one year, his recent performance has reportedly put that in doubt.

According to Daily Mail,  scouts in the club have been specifically instructed to compile a list of potential right back signings.

Mourinho’s first choice left back, Cesar Azpilicueta, was used as a rightback in their UEFA Champions League 4-0 win over Maccabi Tel Aviv  on Wednesday, September 16.

New Ghanaian defender Baba Rahman who was signed in the summer transfer window, made his debut in left-back.
