Manchester United are ready to promote Ryan Giggs as Louis van Gaal’s successor at the end of the season.

Jose Mourinho, 53, was thought to be United’s top candidate to replace van Gaal this summer.

But Gazzetta dello Sport says United will turn to former player Giggs after hearing of rival offers for Mourinho.

Giggs managed the club for four games at the back end of the 2013/14 season after David Moyes was sacked just 10 months into the job.

Mourinho, meanwhile, is being linked with PSG and Real Madrid this week.
