Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal is delighted with the instant impact ofAnthony Martial.
Van Gaal believes the £36m paid up-front for Monaco teenager Martial – in a deal potentially rising to an eye-watering £58.8m – is not looking so daft now.
“I think it’s already clear that we made the right decision in buying him,” he said.
“But you cannot judge a player after four or five matches. You have to wait and see this season if he can give this contribution in every match.
“Not many players of that age give such a high level of effectiveness. He has a high average in assists and goals. When you are 19 years old, it’s fantastic.
“But to do it all season long is very difficult. When he does that, I shall say, ‘Yes, it’s fantastic.’
“[But] In his age group, he is the best striker in Europe.”
