Manchester United are close to completing a €30 million deal for Benfica’s attacking midfielder Nicolas Gaitan.

This is according to A Bola, whose latest front page states that the deal will be finalised after the Portuguese cup final on Friday night.

It was reported by the Mirror last week that Gaitan’s entourage – including the player’s high-profile agent, Jorge Mendes – were in London for talks with an English club, understood to have been Manchester United.

The same report explained that Chelsea were also interested in the Argentina international, whose Benfica contract features a £24.9 million (€35 million) release clause.
