Liverpool’s Jordon Ibe has committed his future to England. The 19-year-old London-born winger has represented his country of birth at various youth levels but had also been eligible to represent Nigeria through his father.

Super Eagles boss Sunday Oliseh had been attempting to lure Ibe to pledge his allegiance to the African nation but instead the Reds youngster has opted to play for England, revealing the reasons why on liverpoolfc.com.

“It was my choice and it feels the right choice for me,” he said.

“I was born here and have played in the younger age groups. I want to take it up to the first team one day.”

He added: “You want to represent your country well. Even at times when you’ve not got games for Liverpool, doing well with England is vital.”
