Jose Mourinho set to escape further punishment despite labelling FA a “disgrace”

Jose Mourinho is set to escape any further punishment – despite branding the Football Association a “disgrace.”

Mirror Sport understands the FA are unlikely to take further action despite Mourinho’s latest outburst.

That will come as a huge relief to Chelsea as Mourinho is under threat of a stadium ban for the next 12 months on top of a £50,000 fine dished out by the FA earlier in the week.

Mourinho was incensed by the punishment which was as a result of claiming referees were “afraid” to give Chelsea penalties following his team’s defeat to Southampton.

The under pressure Chelsea boss used his book launch to vent his fury and also accuse the FA of double standards as Arsene Wenger escaped a ban despite branding referee Mike Dean “weak and naive.”

“And I also think that the possibility of getting a stadium ban is also something absolutely astonishing.

“More difficult for me to understand is when I compare different people with similar behaviour and similar words.”

It is believed that Mourinho’s long track record may have counted against him when the FA dished out the punishment earlier this week.

The suspended stadium ban – which will hang over his head for the next 12 months – was supposed to be a deterrent.

But it had little effect on Mourinho on Thursday night and Chelsea will be relieved he is not in more hot water before their crunch game with Aston Villa on Saturday.

Mourinho’s results are clearly worrying for Chelsea but his constant public rants may not please owner Roman Abramovich who has always been acutely aware of the club’s public image.
