Jose Mourinho is set for a record-breaking season at Chelsea – and not for a good reason.
The Blues are 15th in the Premier League after losing six of their opening 11 matches.
Mourinho, 52, has never lost seven league games in a single season but also seems well on course to obliterate that record.
That possibility is made all the more remarkable by the fact that we aren’t even a third into the season yet.
By this time last season Chelsea were still an entire month away from losing their first game of the campaign – a 2-1 defeat to Newcastle at St James’ Park.
The Stamford Bridge outfit only lost three league matches throughout the entire season as they romped to the title by an eight-point margin.
Mourinho is set to serve a one-game stadium ban when Chelsea face Stoke at the Britannia on Saturday.
He was handed the punishment as well as a £40,000 fine for comments he made to referee Jon Moss during his side’s recent defeat to West Ham.
Mourinho has until 12pm on Friday to appeal to defer the ban and he has until 6pm to appeal to overturn the ban entirely.
