Gareth Bale has opened up about his relationship with Real Madrid teammate Cristiano Ronaldo, insisting the pair have never had so much as an argument.
The Welshman’s relationship with his Bernabeu colleague has been scrutinised by the media since his arrival in the Spanish capital in the summer of 2013.
Bale became the most expensive player in football history when Real paid Tottenham €100million for his services.
Reports have suggested the pair had a fractious working relationship, but Bale rejects those claims, instead saying the duo get on ‘really well’.
“We get on really well,” he told The Times. “The press make a lot of things that maybe we don’t but we get on fine. We’ve never had a problem. I’ve never had an argument with him.
“He’s a very, very passionate person on the pitch — everyone knows that. He’s very determined. People sometimes seem to take that the wrong way. We haven’t had a problem.”
Bale also revealed how he and Ronaldo organise who takes free-kicks.
“It’s on the board: free kicks left side him, free kicks right side me. Every game. So we know exactly what’s what.”
