David De Gea requires a scan on his knee injury after limping out of Manchester United’s clash with FC Midtjylland in the warm-up.
The announcement was made less than 15 minutes before kick-off at the MCH Arena.
De Gea warmed up as usual, seemingly without any problem, but appeared to twist his ankle with Sergio Romero coming in.
The Argentine could do little about either of Midtjylland’s goals as United slipped to a 2-1 defeat.
After the game, Louis van Gaal said: “David De Gea has a knee problem so we have to wait and see. We will investigate that with a scan.”
Spain keeper De Gea becomes the 14th United player sidelined through injury, the list including skipper Wayne Rooney.
De Gea’s injury is another bitter injury blow just 24 hours after captain Rooney was ruled out of action with an knee ligament problem.
