Though many consider it to be a matter of life and death (or even more important than that), football throws up some pretty comical moments from time to time.
It’s very hard to take the game seriously when we’re laughing our heads off at some bizarre incident or strange occurrence. Take the farcical urination scandal in the Belgian Third Division, for instance.
Amateur side Eendracht Aalst recorded an impressive away victory over league rivals KFC Izegem last weekend, but the result has been somewhat eclipsed by a ridiculous moment in the match.
With the game in mid flow (*ahem*), Eendracht striker Philippe Janssens decided that he urgently needed to relieve his bladder. Rather than jog down the tunnel or to some secluded spot, he simply trotted over to the side of the pitch before having a wazz there and then. Unfortunately for him, his decision backfired somewhat.
Not only did he immediately miss a goal for his side (one which he might well have scored himself), he’s now facing a public urination fine from local police. That’s according to Het Laatste Nieuws, anyway – they claim that he could have to pay between €60 and €350 for his troubles.
