Barcelona defender Gerard Pique says he can handle the whistles from Real Madrid fans ahead of next week’s El Clasico.

Pique expects to be barracked in Madrid.

“What if they whistle me? I expect they will, we’ve never been well received at the Bernabéu. But that’s normal, there’s a very strong sporting rivalry,” he said.

“We’re coming into this in our best form of the season. We had our most complete match so far on Sunday. However, that doesn’t mean anything because a ‘Clásico’ is a match apart. The key thing is that we are coming into it as leaders and we hope to leave as leaders.”
