The Lagos State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party says Governor Akinwunmi Ambode’s ‘slow pace of governance’ is worse than that of President Muhammadu Buhari at the federal level.
The Publicity Secretary of the Lagos PDP, Mr. Taofik Gani, said this while reacting to a claim by the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, that Buhari had yet to appoint ministers because he was “cleaning up the PDP’s mess”.
Gani said it was surprising that Tinubu could make such a statement when Ambode had also failed to appoint commissioners in Lagos.
The PDP spokesman wondered if Ambode had not appointed commissioners because he was “cleaning up the mess of his predecessor, Babatunde Fashola.”
Gani said, “Tinubu said President Buhari had yet to appoint ministers because he was cleaning up the PDP’s mess. The APC leader justified this on the grounds that President Buhari took over from a government run by another party.
“However, we wonder why Governor Ambode has failed to appoint commissioners despite taking over from former Governor Fashola who is also a member of the APC. We wonder if Ambode is also cleaning up the APC’s mess.
“Governor Ambode is waiting for Tinubu to help him appoint commissioners. It is highly unfortunate that Ambode is not ready for governance. He is not ‘baba go slow’ like President Buhari; he is ‘boy go slow’”
Gani said Ambode has failed to inspire the people of Lagos as he had not done anything worthy of note in the last 100 days.
In a separate statement titled, “Ambode’s 100 days: Performance is dismal; policies unclear,” the PDP commended Ambode for reversing some of the policies of Fashola but added that the governor had failed to provide an adequate alternative.
The statement read, “The lack of a cabinet; failure to introduce treasury single account; the Lagos State University crisis; the delay in local government elections; unpaid salaries and wages to civil servants continue to linger even when they can be resolved within 100 days.”
