A security guard, Mohammed Ismaila, on Tuesday, August 18, appeared before Ikeja Magistrates’ Court for allegedly defiling a nine-year-old girl.
The Punch reports that a 27-year-old Ismaila, who lives in Lagos, was arraigned on one-count charge of defilement.
During the trial, Prosecutor Jimah Iseghede told the court that the crime was committed on August 8, 2015, at Dammyville School, Surulere.
The prosecutor said that Ismaila called the girl and sent her to buy a sachet of water for him.
“On her arrival, the accused told her to drop the sachet water inside his room and he shut the door.
“The accused defiled the girl and it was her cry that made the passerby to peep through the room window and saw the accused in the act,” he said.
The accused denied the charges against him and pleaded not guilty.
The Chief Magistrate, Tajudeen Elias, granted bail to the accused in the sum of one million naira and ordered him to deposit N200,000 into the court registrar’s account as part of the bail condition.
The case was adjourned till August 28, 2015.
