A father of eight has been accused of brutally beating his young son to death and then feeding his body to pigs at their Kansas City home, Missouri, USA.
Michael Jones, 44, was initially arrested for assaulting and firing a gun at his wife Heather Jones, 24. However, as the police investigation progressed, officers searched the family’s back garden and discovered the decomposing remains of a child that was later identified as Jones’s seven-year-old son.
Police fear the boy was fed to pigs after being beaten to death by his father. The couple also had seven other children, aged between one and 11, who are now believed to be in protective custody. Their neighbours as well as babysitters have been long concerned with the Jones household and had contacted child services about the children.
One of the babysitters who asked for anonymity said: “Their house was horrible. … The kids lived in filth. Trash everywhere, dried food all over the house. Another one added: “For all those girls to have to witness what their brother went through and to carry the burden that something happened to their brother is horrible.”
Jones is being held at the Wyandotte County Jail on a $10 million bond. He is currently charged with aggravated assault with a firearm, aggravated battery and child abuse. The investigation continues.
