A picture has surfaced from Aisha Buhari, the wife of the Nigerian president’s recent courtesy visit to the ancient city of Ibadan, Oyo state where she made a failed attempt to shake a prominent traditional ruler.

Aisha Buhari has been accused of abusing the Yoruba culture of respect in relation to the paramount leader of Oyo State, in the person of Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III who is 77 years old.
Aisha Buhari who was expected to respectfully bow or kneel before the Alaafin stretched out her hand for a handshake with the highly revered leader which he politely declined by making a fist.
This action has attracted a hot debate on social media.
