A mum has been charged with murder after allegedly butchering her three young sons to death and stashing their bodies in a cupboard and a suitcase , police said.
Octavia Rene Rogers, 29, faces three counts of first-degree murder after her boys – aged eight, five and two months – were found stabbed to death at her home.
Police said the two oldest boys, Jaikare Rahaman and Jeremiah Adams, were found partially dismembered amid clothes and boxes inside the cupboard.
Her baby son, Avery Robinson, was discovered in a suitcase at the property in Phoenix, Arizona.
Each child died from multiple stab wounds, officers said.
Rogers was taken to hospital with what police described as self-inflicted stab wounds to her abdomen and neck following the incident on June 2.
She was taken into custody three days later.
Authorities were called to the house by Rogers’ brother, who also lived there.
He told police he had talked with his sister about religion while in the garage and how she found the answer to life before locking him out.
He broke in and found her bleeding and called 911.
Officers found the mother bleeding in the bathtub, police said.
Rogers initially said the children were being cared for elsewhere, but authorities searched the home and found the three bodies.
It has not yet been determined whether prosecutors will seek the death penalty, a Maricopa County Attorney’s Office spokeswoman said.
