INEC Sets Dates For Elections In Bayelsa & Kogi


The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has announced the dates for elections in Bayelsa & Kogi states.

The gubernatorial elections in Kogi is set for the 21st of November, while the polls in Bayelsa on the 5th of December.

Dr. Chris Iyimoga, head of INEC’s Information and Voter Education Committee, announced the dates, adding that party primaries should be held before August 23, 2015 and September 5, 2015 respectively.

The commission added that campaigns by political parties shall commence on July 24 and end on November 29 in Kogi while that of Bayelsa will be from September 6 to December 4, 2015.

The delay in the elections was caused due to the fact that the governors in both states haven’t completed their tenures.
