It was a tug of yesterday in Anambra as two suspected cultists were feared dead, while 10 others sustained various degrees of injuries when two rival cult groups engaged themselves in a bloody clash at Nkpor, Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State.
The bloody clash, according to a dependable source from the Department of State Services, DSS, occurred between the Aiye confraternity and their Akpa rival, even as the cause of their clash could not be ascertained as at the time of going to press.
The source hinted that it was only a timely intervention of Anti-Cult squad who rushed to the scene of the clash along the Nkpor/Obosi Road, that saved the situation from further degeneration as both rivals fled for fear of arrest and possible identification.
It was not also possible to ascertain whether the two deceased members and the injured ones were from only one cult group or from both sides, but sources disclosed that those whose members were killed or injured ensured that they took their corpses away before the arrival of the Anti-cult squad and the police.
Divisional Police Officer at Ogidi, Hassan Musa who confirmed the incident on phone, said by the time a joint team of policemen and Anti-cult squad could rush to the scene, members of the particular cult group that lost two of their members had taken away their corpses, to avoid identification and possible traces.
