Osun State government has declared today a public holiday to commemorate the Islamic calendar year (Hijrah 1436).

This was contained in a statement made available to newsmen yesterday in Osogbo by the permanent secretary, Ministry of Regional Integration and Special Duties, Mr. Adelowo Adewumi.

Meanwhile, Muslims in the state have been called upon to enter into the new year with the fear of Almighty Allah and allow the doctrines of faith, endurance, patience, accommodation and forgiveness to reflect in their daily lives.

This charge is contained in a message signed on behalf of the government by the permanent secretary, Ministry of Information and Strategy, Engr. Olusegun Aduroja.

He urged all adherents of Islam in the state to always support and pray for the state administration and other leaders.

The permanent secretary then assured the people of the state of the unwavering commitment of Governor Rauf Aregbesola’s administration to better their lots in terms of provision of qualitative social amenities in spite of the current economic challenges.
