Former Information Minister Labaran Maku has been stripped of his traditional title of ‘Turakin Eggon’ by the paramount ruler of Eggon nation, HRH Bala Angbazo.

This was contained in a letter signed by the secretary to the traditional council, Mr Christopher Alaku, and made available to the press in Lafia.

The statement did not offer any reason for the stripping of the title.

According to a source familiar with the situation, the former minister lost his title due to the way he treated the council of Eggon elders during the period of the 2015 general elections.

The Eggon traditional council had endorsed the candidature of Senator Solomon Ewuga during the elections, which the former minister reject.

Mr. Maku, after rejecting the council’s decision, held a parallel rally on the same day the council fixed to recieve its preferred candidate, Senator Ewuga.
