Ebonyi State Governor, Chief David Umahi, has said that he would give 50 per cent of his administration’s appointments to ensure that they were accorded full participation in governance both in the state and the country.
The governor, who inaugurated Deputy Governor Kelechi Igwe as the chairman of the boundary Committee and his wife, Mrs. Rachel Umahi, as the Chairperson of the Women Development Centre(WDC), said that some appointees of the caretakers of development centres will be women.
The inauguration, which took place at the Akanu-Ibiam International Conference Centre in Abakaliki, include the swearing-in-of members of Universal Basic Education Board (UBEB), State Civil Service Commission (SCSC), the Ebonyi State Independent Electoral Commission (ESIEC) and the Local Government Service Commission.
Umahi urged the appointees to ensure that they generate funds for the state government, and also deploy wisdom in their dutie.
He assured that his administration was ready to ensure that peace reigns in the state, following the strings violence and crises in some parts of the state.
The governor said he would soon hold the local government election in the state, pleading with local government workers to shelve their planned strike action.
He further stated that his administration was fighting corruption through welfare packages to people who worked meritoriously in the state.
