Armed Thugs Attack PDP Chairman (Photos)

The acting chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Bayelsa, Chief Serena Dokubo has said that some armed thugs invaded his family house attacked him and some of his aids on Saturday, December 4.

The party boss made this claim while speaking with our correspondent in Bayelsa, narrating what himself and his family suffered in the hands of the thugs.

”It is really a tragedy for democracy. We went to Brass to cast our votes. Around 8 o’clock in the morning, I could see some young men fully armed with guns, daggers behind the house. I made number of calls to some high ranking security officers informing them of an attempt to invade my house. The thugs invaded my house, broke the doors and windows.

”I called the security personnel again to come to our aide. They didn’t come while these boys were invading my house. The hoodlums eventually got to my bedroom. We had basically said our last prayers. They broke the door to the bedroom and began hitting and beating us.

”Another set came and we were screaming but there was no help until the police detailed to be in charge came with a team and took us to the police station which was more or less a safe haven. I was stabbed while my house keeper and IT man were beaten mercilessly,” he said.

Timipre Sylva, the APC gubernatorial candidate had earlier raised an alarm over the infiltration of the community and the entire state by thugs.

Sylva also disclosed an attempt to attack him but the effort of operatives of the Joint Task Force prevented the attack.

”There is a proliferation of armed thugs in the state and even in this community (Brass), there are armed thugs but luckily the youth of the community were vigilant and were able to fish them out. So far the community is calm.

”I actually saw them because the JTF had them on display. They were actually floating in on the river waiting for my boat but luckily for us information got to the JTF and they were arrested. So I wasn’t told but I witnessed it.” he said.

The results of the gubernatorial poll in Bayelsa are being collated from the nooks and crannies of the state and the results are expected to be announced this morning December 6 at the INEC collation centre in Yenogoa.

While the waiting game is on, Bayelsans and political analysts are on the watch to see who will govern the affair of the state in the next four years.
