Spokesperson of the Benue state police command, Moses Yamu, have refuted claims by residents of the state that 81 people were killed by herdsmen in their renewed attacks in Ukum and Logo communities in the state in the last two weeks. In a chat with newsmen yesterday July 12th, Yamu said 22 deaths were recorded in the recent attacks;

“We recorded about 11 deaths in Ukum and another 11 in Logo based on our own records. Since the attacks, our crack team have been deployed and are stationed in the affected areas. There is aggressive patrol in those areas.”he said

The traditional ruler of Logo council area, Jimmy Meeme, on Saturday told Channels Television that 70 people have been killed in six out of the 10 council wards in his domain while other residents of the state said 11 more were killed in other areas in the state.
