The Nigerian Oscar Selection Committee (NOSC) has announced another opportunity for Nigerian filmmakers to participate in the prestigious Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences, otherwise called The Oscars. The NOSC, in a statement, as preparations for the 2016 edition of the Hollywood laurel show begin, film submissions are welcomed from Nigerian filmmakers living in Nigeria and Diaspora for the Foreign Language category of the Oscars. The competition invites films of all lengths and genres and submissions are open from today, June 16, 2015 to July 6, 2015. Nigeria joined 82 other countries contesting the Foreign Language diadem, after the approval and subsequent inauguration of the NOSC in February 2014 but could not present any film to the Oscars as the few submissions were considered ineligible. The 12-man Nigerian committee seeks Nigerian films whose themes relate to the country and are predominantly in language other than English and Pidgin English. Unfortunately, most of the entries received were either in English, poorly subtitled or lacking in some technical details. Submissions are to be done by post to the NOSC Secretariat at House 2, Block 101, Plot 8, Furo Ezimora Street, Lekki Residential Scheme, Phase 1, Lagos. Other guidelines according to the committee include submission on DVD watermarked with Preview Copy; confirming and warranting required legal authority to submit the entry for the Award and to use all music, images, and content in the entry among others.
