Was 2015 the year of the split? It seems like celebrities have been put through the mill this year, with marriages shattering and hearts broken.
Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck blew up their ‘perfect’ marriage after announcing split, with Gavin Rossdale and Gwen Stefani following closely behind. Both were dogged by rumours of a nanny being involved.
Those that didn’t quite make it up the aisle, included Zayn Malik and Perrie Edwards and Ricky Rayment and Marnie Simpson.
But, to be fair – it wasn’t all doom and gloom, with Cupid taking aim at some love birds.
Taylor Swift continued her world domination pursuit and bagged herself a new man – DJ Calvin Harris. They swiftly dethroned Beyonce and Jay Z as highest-earning couple.
Former 1D hunk Zayn also found himself a new love to kiss this Christmas…
Take a peek at these celebrity love lives:
Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck
Just one day after their 10-year anniversary they announced their heartbreaking split.
The Batman star was linked to the nanny Christine Ouzounian (who made the most of the spotlight), but the pair continued to go “forward with love and friendship for one another and a commitment to co-parenting our children.”
Both were spotted wearing their wedding rings and took their time before taking them off sparking speculation they could reunite. They will reportedly spend Christmas together along with their three children.
Scott Disick and Kourtney Kardashian
With three children together, Kourtney and Scott seemed to be the couple equivalent of a cockroach. They would survive anything. That was until he was pictured getting close to another woman on a trip to Europe – Chloe Bartoli.
After nine years together, Scott moved out and Kourtney found her confidence and sex factor, with the reality star being recently linked to Justin Bieber. Yes, that Justin Bieber.
Kourtney and Scott have been pictured together over Thanksgiving with the family as well as on dates without their kids. So watch this space, it might all be back on.
Ellie Goulding and Dougie Poynter
Virtually inseparable for over a year, it was thought that Dougie and Ellie were destined to get hitched. But they recently called time on their romance after ‘growing apart’. The Anything Can Happen star spoke about the possibility of marrying the McFly star in October, when said: “I like my name. Somebody said it once – ‘Ellie Poynter’. I was like, ‘No, I don’t like that’.” Ouch.
Ricky Rayment and Marnie Simpson
This is what happens when reality shows collide. Ricky and Marnie’s on-off romance has tied fans in knots this year. The pair got engaged (watch the awkward proposal here), and she got a tattoo but it was all short-lived and fairly dramatic after they “spent too much time together”.
He allegedly called her “every name under the sun”, but she had been hopefully for reconciliation.
“'[It’s not over] for good. We’re still talking and trying to work through things, but it’s difficult,” she told new! Magazine.
Jenson Button and Jessica Michibata
They only married in December last year, but Jenson Button and Jessica Michibata called time on their marriage just days before Christmas.
The ex-Formula One world champion and underwear model Jessica wed after five years of dating, but the pressures of their jobs, keeping them in different parts of the world, has taken its toll.
“Jenson and Jessica have decided to go their separate ways and it is very amicable. There is no-one else involved,” the 35-year-old star’s representative said on Tuesday.
Tyga and Kylie
They didn’t confirm they were an item until Kylie turned 18, and they were inseparable with the teen sharing every detail on Snapchat. But where was the Keeping Up With The Kardashians beauty on his birthday? Split rumours raged as the rapper released a cryptic ‘diss’ track, but just days later it looked as if they were back on. Kylie even admitted she’s hopeful the pair will get married one day. Young love’s dream right here.
Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale
Sad times for Voice star Gwen, who filed for divorce from husband of 13 years Gavin Rossdale.
The couple have three children together – nine-year-old Kingston, six-year-old Zuma and 17-month-old Apollo.
The pair met on tour in 1995 and wed in 2002 in a lavish ceremony held at St Paul’s Cathedral in London.
“While the two of us have come to the mutual decision that we will no longer be partners in marriage, we remain partners in parenthood and are committed to jointly raising our three sons in a happy and healthy environment,” they said in a joint statement.
Days after the split, the Bush frontman was linked to the family’s nanny. Neither have confirmed the allegations, but Gwen did say: “Everybody knows pretty much what happened to me”.
Courteney Cox and Johnny McDaid
It looks like they’ll just be Friends. Courteney Cox and Johnny McDaid have ended their year-long engagement. The Snow Patrol star was introduced to Courteney through Ed Sheeran, but Cupid’s spell didn’t last very long as the couple reportedly ended the romance just before Thanksgiving.
Halle Berry and Olivier Martinez
Halle and Olivier had a rocky marriage to begin with, after drama with Gabriel Aubrey – the actress’ daughter Nahla’s father – plaguing their relationship. But, despite their best efforts the pair, who also share son Maceo, called time and filed for divorce after two years of marriage.
Breaking her silence in November, she said: “I’m doing okay, I really am. I keep pushing and I’m really happy to be here because whenever you’re going through anything in life, when you step outside yourself and focus on others, that’s always the best remedy for any situation that you’d rather not be dealing with.”
Kaley Cuoco and Ryan Sweeting
They married in a romantic New Year’s Eve ceremony in 2013, but come September it was game over. The Big Bang Theory star filed for divorce from the tennis ace after nearly two years of marriage.
“Kaley Cuoco and Ryan Sweeting have mutually decided to end their marriage,” the blonde star’s rep said.
It was claimed that the couple struggled after the athlete underwent back surgery and allegedly failed to “get sober” after taking strong painkillers.
Megan Fox and Brian Austin Green
After 11 years together and two children, Megan and Brian went their separate ways. Megan, who shares two children Noah and Bodhi – previously alluded to the fact she wasn’t spending much time with Brian, saying: “Brian doesn’t get any intimacy whatsoever.” Brian continued to wear his wedding ring after the split was confirmed sparking speculation that it wasn’t his decision.
Zayn Malik and Perrie Edwards
It’s been quite the year for Zayn, who not only split with One Direction but also fiancé Perrie too. The former 1D hunk was rumoured to have broken up with Perrie via a text message, leaving her heartbroken. Fans were thrown into a frenzy over his behaviour, which he shot down in his first interview.
He told Fader : “If you could word it exactly this way, I’d be very appreciative. I have more respect for Perrie than to end anything over text message.
“I love her a lot, and I always will, and I would never end our relationship over four years like that.
“She knows that, I know that, and the public should know that as well. I don’t want to explain why or what I did, I just want the public to know I didn’t do that.”
Melanie Griffith and Antonio Banderas
Melanie and Antonio shocked Hollywood by signing their divorce papers after 18 years of marriage.
Legal documents were signed and sealed after the couple split last year.
Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy
One of showbiz’s most enduring couples announced their shock split as Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy revealed they were no longer together.
Speaking about their heartache, the two Muppets assured fans they would still however be working together.
“After careful thought, thoughtful consideration and considerable squabbling, Kermit the Frog and moi have made the difficult decision to terminate our romantic relationship,” said Miss Piggy.
“We will continue to work together on television and in all media now known or hereafter devised, in perpetuity, throughout the universe.
“However, our personal lives are now distinct and separate, and we will be seeing other people, pigs, frogs, et al.
“This is our only comment on this private matter…unless we get the right offer. Thank you for your understanding.”
Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert
Country superstars Blake and Miranda broke hearts when they revealed their four-year marriage wasn’t working.
The couple tied the knot in 2011 after dating for six years and have been the focus of numerous split reports throughout their marriage.
A statement from the pair read: “This is not the future we envisioned and it is with heavy heart that we move forward separately.”
Khloe Kardashian and Lamar Odom
Khloe and Lamar sparked rumours that they were getting back together when the Keeping Up With The Kardashians star called off their divorce. They both signed on the dotted line in July, but a judge hadn’t approved it. After Lamar was found unconscious in a Nevada brothel. The 31-year-old then begged the judge to withdraw the petition.
In November, the reality star told a fan: “Divorce is still going forward. Doesn’t mean I won’t be there through sickness and health. I’ve proven that.”
Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber
Is it too late for him to say that he’s Sorry? Biebs and Selena aka ‘Jelena’ sent fans into a meltdown after Biebs was spotted serenading the beauty with ‘My Girl’.
Yes he did.
After that, Biebs told Access Hollywood: “[She] is someone I love dearly. I’m never going to stop loving her. I’m never going to stop checking in on her.
“I don’t think if you end a relationship, you should end that, unless it was super toxic and you guys were hurting each other physically or mentally. We always respected each other and we still respect each other.”
Kate Moss and Jamie Hince
Kate Moss and Jamie Hince reportedly split after their marriage reached the point of “no return”.
The supermodel and rocker tied the knot in the summer of 2011, but after months of speculation that their relationship was on the rocks and parted ways this summer.
Kate, who caused havoc on a flight back to the UK earlier this year, has since been seen with her blood-swilling toyboy Count Nikolai von Bismarck , aka Count Drakula, where they have enjoyed “his ’n’ hers” vampire facials on their first romantic trip.
Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik
Heartbreak didn’t last long for Zayn. Just a few months after calling off his engagement with Little Mix beauty Perrie, Zayn was pictured with Victoria’s Secret beauty Gigi. The pair are now all over social media and enjoying their new romance. So much for being a ‘normal 22-year-old’ Zayn.
Charlotte Crosby and Gaz Beadle
Geordie Shore founds nearly died when these two CONFIRMED that they were back on after they were caught snogging on Holly Hagan’s Snapchat. Classy.
Gaz revealed that they were going to give it another go, when he said: “We’ve been stuck in the house for so many years and spent so much time with each other, we just needed to spend some time with each other with no cameras and no pressure, no one around us, so it kind of feels like last night was a first date but it wasn’t.”
Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton
Despite their broken marriages, Gwen and Blake didn’t wait too long before looking for love again. The Voice co-stars turned up the heat on the US show when they started dating. While nothing has been confirmed, the loved-up pair have been seen kissing and on dates, with the country music star hanging out with Gwen’s kids.
Nicole Scherzinger and Lewis Hamilton
They’ve been on and off for seven years but Nicole and Lewis went their separate ways earlier this year, leaving the former Pussycat Dolls star “devastated”.
At the time, Nicole said: “It was the hardest decision we had to make, but we made it together.
“I love Lewis and I know he loves me. We wish nothing but happiness and the very best for one another.”
While the Formula 1 champ was linked to Rihanna, Kendall Jenner and even Gigi Hadid this year, he later admitted that he was loving the single life.
Bradley Cooper and Irina Shayk
From one model to another, the hunky Hollywood actor moved swiftly on to Cristiano Ronaldo’s ex-girlfriend. They were spotted kissing for the first time in May when she went to watch her man on Broadway. Since then, they’ve enjoyed romantic trips together and she’s got friendly with his mum.

Rebel Wilson & Mickey Gooch Jr
They looked like the most fun couple ever, but Pitch Perfect star Rebel Wilson split with funnyman Mickey Gooch Jr after just four months.
“She ended it with him. They got to the point where they both realized the attraction really wasn’t there anymore and they would be better off as friends,” an insider told ET.
Cara Delevingne and St Vincent
They’ve reportedly bought themselves a lovenest together, so it looks as though things are going from strength-to-strength between Cara and singer St. Vincent. Earlier this year, Cara went public with the romance.
“I think that being in love with my girlfriend is a big part of why I’m feeling so happy with who I am these days,” she said of her 32-year-old girlfriend.
“And for those words to come out of my mouth is actually a miracle.”
Alexa Chung and Alexander Skarsgard
Talk about low-key! These two reportedly started dating this year, and were pictured holding hands and fawning all over each other in a park in June before heading to Glastonbury together. Alex and Alex a rarely spotted in public, but were recently seen holding hands. Talk about playing it cool.
Calvin Harris and Taylor Swift

Kylie Minogue and Joshua Sasse
Kylie Minogue has admitted she goes “gooey” whenever she talks about her new boyfriend Joshua Sasse.
And taking a look at him, we can’t say that we blame her.
Pint-sized Aussie stunner Kylie, 47, confirmed last month that she’s in a relationship with hunky actor and producer Joshua, 27.
Giddy Kylie says she struggles to contain her enthusiasm whenever she thinks of him, gushing: “I go all gooey at the mention of him.”
