A Serbian former tennis ace has claimed to have had a relationship with Princess Diana while she was still married to Prince Charles.
Slobodan Živojinovi?, 52, said that the relationship with Princess Diana began in the late 1980s when she watched him play at Wimbledon, after which they became ‘extremely close’.
Živojinovi? said Diana would watch him play tennis from the courtside stands rather than the VIP seats so she could be closer to him.
Speaking to a Serbian newspaper, Živojinovi? said he met the British royal in 1987 before his match at Wimbledon.
He said: ‘In our first conversation she asked me if I am the tennis player with the fastest serve, and I said “yes”.
‘Then she asked if my serve was still good. Shortly after that we started seeing each other.’
He said that the relationship went on while she was married to Prince Charles and when he was in a relationship with his then fiancee.
Živojinovi? noted that although Diana was allowed to watch the game from the VIP seats, she had preferred to come down into the stand so that she could be closer to him.
He added: ‘She was a wonderful woman. With her I could talk about everything and even simple things became fascinating.
‘I don’t want to speak about it in any detail now that she is no longer with us,’ he told Serbian newspaper Kurir.
