John Legend visits Texas prison for ‘Free America’ campaign

American superstar John Legend visited a Texas prison on Thursday, April 16, 2015, to promote his ‘Free America’ campaign. The ‘All of Me’ star, performed a few songs at the Travis County Correctional Complex, following a press conference at the Senate chamber.

During the conference, the 36-year-old star urged the state government to consider revamping their current correction system.

He said: ‘Every Texan deserves a better justice system. They say everything is bigger in Texas. Yes, unfortunately, that extends to the state’s corrections system as well.’

‘Texas puts too many people behind bars, and that means taxpayers, families and communities are paying a heavy price for those policies.’

And John, who is married to model, Chrissy Teigen, hopes bringing an end to mass incarceration will help solve some of the country’s other big issues too.
