AMAA AWARDS 2009
The much awaited 2009 AMAA Awards has come and gone with all its expected glitz and glamour. With 24 categories awarded, it was sure another time for Africa to show to the world that they have come of age in the world’s movie industry.
Created some few years ago, and being led by AMAA C.E.O, Peace Anyiam-Fiberesima,the red-carpet event, which serves as a convocation for the crËme de la crËme of the African movie industry is set to reward the Director of the best overall film with 50,000 Euro, to be used for producing the next film. Wao ! it is sure “a prize to die for”.
This year’s event was sponsored by UBA, was held in Yenogoa, Capital City of Bayelsa state in Nigeria, and was anchored by Ace Comedian Julius Agwu and Nollywoood’s own Diva kate Henshaw.

Hollywood mega-mogul and Movie Awards producer Les Grossman (a.k.a Tom Cruise) commandeered the “2010 MTV Movie Awards” stage in an explosive, surprise dance number with a bedazzled Jennifer Lopez, as well as with recurring rants at a long list of Hollywood stars in his line of fire, including Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner, Will and Jaden Smith and Michael Cera.
Screened live on MTV (DStv Channel 321), “MTV Movie Awards” was filled with laugh-out-loud film parodies as host Aziz Ansari
P Square & M.I. to rep Nigeria @ BET 2010 Awards
The nominations for the 2010 BET awards show were announced today (May 18) in a press conference in New York City by Diddy and his new group Dirty Money. Beyonce and Jay-Z lead the pack as queen and king of the 2010 BET Awards nominees. On the African front, we’ve got P Square and MI, K ‘Naan & Kojo Antwi, hip hop pantsula repping Africa.
The 10th annual show will feature performances from Trey Songz, Nicki Minaj, Drake, and Diddy-Dirty Money, who was on hand to announce the nominations, along with Oscar nominee Queen Latifah, who will serve as host.
The 2010 BET AWARDS will air live from the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles on Sunday, June 27, at 8 p.m. The full list of nominees, according to BET:
