Former Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has known for SIX WEEKS that Cristiano Ronaldo planned to quit Real Madrid.

The Mirror says Ronaldo confided in his former United boss that he was unsettled at the Bernabeu weeks before the tax allegations became public.

He and Ferguson have remained close since his £80million move to Real Madrid and chat regularly when their paths cross.

Ronaldo sought out Ferguson within minutes of Real Madrid’s latest Champions League triumph in Cardiff.

But just a few weeks earlier they had been together at a function in which Ronaldo indicated to the Scot that he felt unloved at Real Madrid and let down by some of the fans who had at times booed him despite his amazing goal-scoring feats for the Spanish giants.
