Here are the Nominees for The Future Awards 2012 – Young Person of the Year!
The Central Working Committee (CWC) for The Future Awards, which the World Bank has called “The Nobel Prize for Young Africans”, has again decided to unveil the long list for the biggest award, Young Person of the Year before the full list.
As is the tradition, the nominees for Young Person of the Year have been taken out of the various categories as always and identified as trailblazing role models foryoung Nigerians – all except for the Science and Technology categories; and that is a deliberate exception to encourage and spotlight more high-impact activity in those sectors.
“All of the Young Person of the Year nominees are winners,” Atafo said. “They are honorees and will yet again all be given plaques.

A creepy and unconfirmed rumour has been circulating that the controversial Nigeria Pastor of Emmanuel TV and founder of The Synagogue Church of All Nation (SCOAN), Prophet Temitope Balogun Joshua popularly known as T. B. Joshua “prophesied” that there will be mass death of 2go users today.
2go one of the fastest growing mobile social networking sites in the world. We gathered that many users in Nigeria have have panicked and refused to log into the site today in other not to be the victim of the acclaimed prophesy.
In recent times, many of T. B. Joshua’s prophecies have been confirmed to come through, hence, the reason for the panic among 2go users. However, based on our findings so far, the creepy claim has not been confirmed.

There has been a widespread outrage over the news that Nigeria has begun to import refined diesel fuel from Niger, its northern neighbor.
Oil market traders and truck drivers affirmed the imports yesterday.
Fuel (gas) stations in the northern city of Katsina on the border with Niger stock diesel imported from Niger’s Soraz refinery in Zinder, 80 kilometres (50 miles) from the border with Nigeria.
“We have imported 90 trucks of diesel from Niger in the past four months in three batches of 30 trucks each,”Lawal Dahiru Mangal, a fuel market trader in Katsina said.
“We secured import licence from the (Nigerian) government for the importation of diesel from the Soraz refinery in Niger which we supply fuel stations in Katsina and neighbouring towns”, said Mangal of MD Mangal petroleum

Breaking News: Heavy Gunfire Reported in Yobe State
Heavy gunfire is being reported along Gasua road in Damaturu, Yobe state. The Yobe State commissioner of police, Patrick Egbuniwe who confirmed this to Channels Television reporter in Damaturu said the gun shot is being heard in three different locations in Damaturu but that a combine team of the JTF is working to locate the spot with a view to repelling the attack.
The sounds of gunfire began to be heard across the town around 1:30pm and forced many residents to flee to their homes

Brave Youths Arrest 2 Boko Haram Suspects
The killing of a 20-year-old innocent boy was all the youths needed in confronting three gun-totting Boko Haram members who invaded Rigasa and Mahuta, a suburb of Kaduna metropolis yesterday. The brave youths arrested the two suspects, aged between 17 and 22, who had gone to the compound of the District Head of Afaka, Alhaji Abdulwahab, in a bid to kill him. The Boko Haram members were bearing an AK-47 rifle at the time they invaded two neighbouring Rigasa and Mahuta communities on a motorcycle at 9a.m.
Also, in what seemed like divine intervention, an attempt by the sect to bomb a branch of Living Faith Church (aka Winners’ Chapel) in Okene, Kogi State failed yesterday as the bomb went off at the main gate.
