Armed robbers went on the rampage this afternoon in Lagos and killed several people including two policemen inside their patrol vehicle. According to an eyewitness who gave his name as Tayo Adeyeri, the robbers, who drove in two SUVs, a Toyota Prado and Armada, stormed several parts of Lagos, including a bureau de change at Agege, Lagos, southwest Nigeria, where they shot some currency changers and carted away two bags containing local and foreign currencies running into millions. Adeyeri said he saw four people who were shot dead and that the robbers also shot two currency changers who resisted their attack. The Federal Government on Friday admitted that the suspension of the Operating Licence of Dana Airlines immediately an aircraft belonging to the airline crashed on June 3 was against global aviation practices. The FG said the best it could have done then was to isolate the particular aircraft involved in the crash and carry out the necessary investigations. The Joint Task Force (JTF) on Operation Restore Order (ORO) said on Friday that it had killed seven suspected terrorists in Maiduguri. This is contained in a statement issued by the Spokesman of the JTF, Lt.-Col. Sagir Musa in Maiduguri. Musa explained that the JTF encountered the hoodlums during a search at a suspected hideout of the terrorists in Gwange, Maiduguri. “The JTF conducted a cordon and search operation in Gwange Junction. “But as the search went on some suspected terrorists opened fire on the troops, leading to exchange of fire that killed seven of them,” he said. Musa added that 13 other suspects were arrested after the incident. “No casualty was recorded on the part of the JTF,” Musa said.
