SAD!! Man accused of raping 12-year-old girl four times

“We asked her how many times he had had sex with her and she refused to tell us,” the mother toldPUNCH Metro.

It was learnt that the girl later told nurses at a hospital that Amuda had had sex with her four different times.

When our correspondent visited the family at their home in Meiran area of Lagos, the girl maintained that the man actually raped her four times.

Her mother said, “We were angry; we could not fathom why Amuda, whom we have always seen as a family friend, could do such a thing to a young girl. My daughter said Amuda would come to our apartment and ask her to follow him. She said those times he slept with her, my husband and I were not around.

“She told us the last time he slept with her, she was sleeping on the bed and Amuda entered our apartment, woke her up and asked her to follow him.

“We then reported at the Oke-Odo Police Station and the police arrested him. While Amuda was locked up, his relatives came to beg us to get him released.

“They apologised to us to forget about the matter, that what had been done could not be undone. We were furious. I told them I was not a fool that the police would decide what to do with him.”

It was learnt that Amuda was arrested on February 2 and was released five days after. Since his release, the suspect had not returned home.

When our correspondent visited Amuda’s apartment, his wife and 15-year-old daughter refused to grant him audience when he identified himself and stated his mission.

The victim’s mother told PUNCH Metro that she took her daughter to the hospital for tests, including HIV and pregnancy tests. She said although the results were negative, there was need to repeat the tests based on medical advice.

“The hospital said we might have to come back for more tests in the near future because some things might not manifest in her body for now,” she said.

Amuda reportedly insisted on his innocence throughout the time he was locked up at the police cell.

However, he purportedly wrote a letter to the victim’s parents, in which he promised to pay the sum of N15,000 for the girl’s treatment.

The letter, shown to our correspondent was written in Yoruba and purportedly signed by two of Amuda’s relatives; Bose Adesan and Taju Amuda.

“I, Lateef Amuda, promise as a result of the incident at my residence, where I was accused of raping a girl, that I would pay the sum of N15, 000 to the family of Peter Oduntan for her treatment by the end of February,” the letter stated.

“We are angry that he has been released. The police said there was not much they could do on the case,” the girl’s mother said.

When our correspondent called Amuda on the telephone, he denied raping the girl.

Amuda said, “That girl is too young for me to do something like that to. I don’t know why she kept mentioning my name.

“I decided to pay the money on the orders of the police and my relatives. The IPO said I should go and apologise to the family and my relatives followed me to apologise.

“When we got there, the girl’s family told me that if I admitted that I raped her, they would drop the case. So, I said I did it because I did not want to prolong the matter. More so, my relatives told me not to argue with them and agreed.”

When asked why he had not been home since he was released from police custody, he said, “I have been feeling ashamed. You know when something like this happens, the whole neighbourhood would be making jest of the person accused.”

However, a source at the police station denied that the police advised Amuda to apologise to the girl’s family.

The source said, “God would judge him if he actually went to tell such a lie. I was infuriated when the mother of the girl informed me that Amuda had written an undertaken to pay the family some money.

“When I asked him, he said it was his family that told him to write the undertaking and apologise to the family. Nobody here (police station) is related to the family in any way. Which policeman would do such an unprofessional thing?”

The source said investigation was still ongoing on the case and that the medical report had not been delivered.

According to Weird Asian News, Last night in Hong Kong, the police received a disturbing call in the middle of the night from Xing, a 41 year-old man, who was in trouble.

Nollywoodgossip learned that the lonely man had apparently thought it would be fun to have sex with one of the steel sit-up benches around the park.

The bench has numerous small holes in it, which Xing used to attempt to satisfy himself. However, once he became aroused he found that he was stuck and could not get his penis out of the small hole.

He panicked and called the police to help him.

When police arrive they found Xian stuck face down where he had been stuck for some time.

When doctors arrived on the scene they tried to release some of the pressure by removing some of his blood, but the penis was so swollen that they ended up having to cut the entire bench free and take it, with Xian attached, to the hospital.

4 painful hours later, Doctors finally separated Xian from his bench.

Doctors stated that if he had been stuck for even an hour longer, they would have had to remove his penis.

Another Fatal Accident Averted In Lagos

What would have been another fatal accident, after last Saturday’s fatal accident at Mile 2, Lagos was averted at the early hours of Tuesday, February 21.

Just last week Saturday, February 19, a tanker full of Premium Motors Spirit (PMS) poured its contents on the road, which later went up in flames and claimed about three lives.

According to what we gathered from a LASTMA official, a petrol tanker with registration number XM 912 FKJ was about leaving a petrol station at about 1am at Oja bus stop, Egbeda, Lagos, when an on-coming trailer carrying packs of Ribenna swerved into the petrol station in order to avoid a collision with the petrol tanker.

We learnt that the trailer fell and poured its contents on the road and caused a total blockage on one side of the road. The incident has caused a heavy build up in the area.

Officials of LASTMA and police are already taking control of situation in the area.

Lion on rampage, kills two in Yobe

KANO (AFP) – A lion has killed two herders and 30 livestock in a settlement in Yobe State, the environment commissioner said Tuesday.

“We have a lion on the rampage which has so far killed two people and around 30 herd”, Ahmed Wakil Sarki said.

He said the lion attacked the settlement on the edge of a forest in Gujba district, 30 kilometres (20 miles) from the state capital Damaturu on Monday.

“We are trying to mobilise our rangers from the wildlife department to capture the predator alive or hunt it down to avert further destruction,” he said.

Sarki said the lion was believed to be holed up near Damaturu as residents in nearby villages reported seeing the devoured remains of animals they suspected to have been killed by the big cat.

He added that it was not clear whether the lion lived nearby or came from afar.

Girl Bears Baby Boy For Her Father!

Father and daughter agree to committing incest that produced a baby boy. But while father says act was consensual, daughter claims she was hypnotised.

For 24 years, Zina didn’t know her biological father. As a growing child, she had repeatedly been told by her mother that her father was in Jos, Plateau State, then in Lagos.
Unable to withstand the resultant mockery from friends and classmates, Zina demanded to be taken to her father, sometimes refusing to eat for days.

At last, her demand of several years was granted two years ago, when she was taken to her father in Amuwo Odofin area of Lagos.Today, Zina is 26 year-old. But, unfortunately, she is enmeshed in an abominable act which stigma is likely to remain with her for the rest of her life. Reason? She claims to have a ten-month old son whose father is no other person than her father (names withheld).

Zina alleged that her father was the first man to have carnal knowledge of her. Asked how that was possible, she claimed her father usually hypnotized her anytime he wanted to sleep with her.

The suspected victim of incest narrated: “ I demanded to know my father and also to stay with him so that I could do something better with my life. I thought, when I got to his place, he would fix me into a skilled job.

“But when I got there, it was another ball game altogether. It all started with his over-monitoring nature. Anytime I went to my place of work, my father would come and check if I was there or if any man came to visit me. I thought it was just this fatherly protective measure for their daughters.

Then one day, he gave me some concoction at night, saying it was for malaria . But after I took it, I did not know where I was and, before I knew it, I slept off and, when I woke up , I discovered I was naked and was bleeding. This continued several times.”

Asked if she told anybody, Zina replied, “ I did not tell anybody that first time because he threatened to send me back to my mother if I did. He continued that way until I became pregnant. Even when I was pregnant, I never knew.

It started from being dizzy and when I complained, he gave me some drugs to take,which made my stomach rumble for days. When I could not bear the pain any longer, I had to contact someone who in turn contacted my mother”.

On arrival, her mother was said to have taken her to hospital where tests were carried out on her and results showed she was six months pregnant. The 39-year-old mother of the girl, Rose Nwogugu, was devastated.

Zina remained with her father in that state until she gave birth to a male child who has striking resemblance with his grandfather. Lack of care for both the nursing mother and her child reportedly prompted Nwogugu, mother of the incest victim, to alert the police who arrested the father.

“What have I done to deserve all these?”, Zina’s mother asked Sunday Vanguard. rhetorically. Information showed that the single mother had suffered several misfortunes in life. First was the pregnancy that produced Zina, twenty -six years ago, when she was barely 13 years.

She was reportedly impregnated while in form two. Then, the man responsible (Zina’s father) was a trader in Jos. The pregnancy distorted her education, as her furious parents refused giving her out in marriage, on the grounds that she must finish her secondary education first.

Looking back with regret, Nwogugu said” “This man (pointing to the father of her child) has put me into so much trouble. Part of it is that I have not been able to marry since then. He got me impregnated when I knew nothing about life.

Even at that , he never bothered to check on his daughter. I reluctantly took my daughter to him so that he could at least play his fatherly role on her. I never knew it would turn out this way. I came to check on her when I heard he was not taking care of her only for me to discover that my daughter had been impregnated by her own father”.

On why he decided to sleep with his daughter in the first place, the suspect blamed it on spiritual forces beyond his control.

“If I tell you it has got more to do with spiritual forces, you may not believe me . But it is true. This spiritual thing is true. I was cursed by one of my uncles without any fault of mine. He placed a curse on me that I will never do well in life.

Since then, anytime I have money at hand, it will just disappear. I have been going from pillar to post all these years, struggling to make ends meet but no way. Look at me, is it proper for a man my age to be unmarried? Eh- hen, that is what I am saying. This thing happening to me is not ordinary.”

On why he chose his daughter instead of a female friend, he said, “I do not have a girl friend. It all started when she started telling people that I am not her father. When her mother brought her to me in 2009, I could not take care of her because I was poor. I could not feed myself, let alone another person. It is not that I never had plans for her but things were tight for me, that I had to take her to my elder sister’s place. But she later brought her back saying my daughter had some problem.

I then got a place at Mile Two park where she could be managing in a restaurant. While there, she kept telling people that I was not her father. Out of annoyance, I took her away from there and got her another place, yet the case was the same.

At a point I begged her to stop denying me before the world but she would not stop. Then I removed her from there and made her to stay at home with me for four months before I took her to learn fashion designing where she repeated same thing”

Asked how he got his daughter’s consent in the atrocious act, he said, “It happened one night. I did not tell her anything. I only crept to her and started fondling her. She did not put up any resistance; so I had carnal knowledge of her. This continued until her mother came to inform me she was pregnant. She never told me she was pregnant. I could not also deny it because when the baby was born he looked very much like me.

“I did not hypnotize her as she claimed. The only concoction I gave to her was for malaria because there are lots of mosquitoes where we lived and I did not want her to suffer from malaria. Her claim that I am the first man in his life is also a big lie. This is because she was not a virgin when I slept with her. I am an adult and I know how it feels like with a virgin.”

Asked whether he felt any remorse the first time he slept with his daughter, he shook his head and said, “ remorse? no. There was nothing like that. It was just like any other girl”.

On what he wanted to do with the product of the pregnancy, he remained calm refusing to talk. Even when he was asked what the name of the child was, he directed this writer to her daughter.

Meanwhile, 10-month old baby clung to her mother , crying and struggling at the same time to remove her blouse in an attempt to reach out for her breast. Unknown to this innocent child, an abominable incident capable of stigmatizing his image, had occurred.

Wow! And someone else would say it should have been the mother of my eldest child. Another person will even argue that it should be the lady that has been with me for the longest time. These are matters of the heart. They can’t always be analysed like that. Sometimes you no fit analyse am at all sef.

Being that you had three women to choose from, at least seemingly, what it is about Annie that decided it for you?

My mind, my body, my soul, my heart chose her.

A middle-aged auto mechanic on Monday asked a Mushin Grade A Customary Court to dissolve his eight-year old marriage because his wife was allegedly fond of beating him up whenever they quarrelled.

“I have never seen such a troublesome woman like my wife; she hits me with all sorts of wooden and iron objects whenever we have a quarrel and has inflicted several injuries on me. I usually don’t retaliate when she hits me.

“Her actions have been threatening my life and I can’t wait till she kills me before I save myself.

“I am tired of the marriage and I want to put an end to it,” Ibrahim Salami pleaded with the court.

Salami also accused Keji, his petty trader wife, of being an unrepentant adulterous woman who was fond of dating other men in the neighbourhood.

“My wife is a wayward woman. I can no longer vouch for her fidelity. She is always hiding the children from me and forbids them from talking to me. I believe she wants to take them to the home of one of her numerous boyfriends.”

But Keji denied the allegations, claiming that it was her husband who dated one of her friends.

“I am a responsible and Godly woman. I am not adulterous. It was Ibrahim who dated my friend in spite of my pleas. He even bragged about his shameful acts. He plays all sorts of mockery music to infuriate me in the house.”

Keji said that the divorce suit filed by Salami was a way of evading his financial responsibilities as a father.

“He wants to divorce me so that he can abandon me and the children. He doesn’t want to take care of them. He has never really cared about their welfare.

She urged the court not to grant her husband’s divorce request, adding that she was still interested in making their marriage work.

The Court President, Mr Abayomi Ipaye, advised the couple that quarrels were inevitable in marriage since it involved two people with different perception and background.

“Both of you are from different backgrounds; you have diverse opinions on various issues, therefore, you will constantly disagree.

“Disagreements breed quarrels in marriage but they can be managed with maturity and a lot of patience.”

He called on the couple to exercise endurance and humility for long lasting and blissful marriage.

Ipaye adjourned the case to March 7 for further hearing. (NAN)
