Taribo West Deducted 12 Years From His Real Age – Ex-Club President
Former Super Eagles defender turned Pastor, Taribo West, has been labelled an age cheat by one of his former employers.
Taribo, whose illustrious career saw him playing in at least five countries, was accused of slashing 12 years from his real age.
The former Derby County, Plymouth, Inter Milan, and AC Milan player when making a move to Serbian team, Partizan Belgrade, in 2002 after leaving Derby County told club bosses he was 28.
However, the former president of Partizan Belgrade, Zarko Zecevic, in an interview with U.K. tabloid, Daily Mail, has accused the former Nigerian defender of lying, saying the defender was actually 40.
“He joined us saying he was 28. We only later found out he was 40, but he was still playing well so I don’t regret having him on the team,” Zecevic said.

Yobo Blasts Keshi Over Kenya Snub
Fresh crises seems brewing in camp of Nigeria’s national team as Super Eagles skipper, Joseph Yobo has come out openly to condemn Coach Stephen Keshi for failing to intimate him before leaving him out of the team that played against Kenya’s Harambee Stars in a World Cup qualifying match some days back in Calabar.
Yobo in an interview with Brila Fm Sports radio on Tuesday morning insists Coach Keshi was disrespectful for not giving him any prior notice before his non-invitation for last month’s 2014 FIFA W/Cup qualifier against Kenya.

The Nigeria Football Federation abandoned the visiting Kenyan national team to its fate on Wednesday. The east Africans will play against the Super Eagles in Saturday’s 2014 World Cup qualification match in Calabar, Cross River State.
The Harambee Stars arrived at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos via a Kenya Airways flight on Wednesday afternoon.
On arrival at the airport, there was not one high ranking member of the Nigeria Football Federation to receive the team for a game of such international magnitude.

Injured Spartak Moscow strike Emmanuel Emenike has fired a broadside at the Nigeria Football Federation and Super Eagles coach Stephen Keshi by accusing them of being insensitive to his plight.

FIFA Queries Nigeria Over Ban on Lesbian Players
World football governing body FIFA has written to the Nigeria Football Federation over reports that lesbians had been banned from playing football in the National Women’s League.
A FIFA spokesman confirmed the letter but emphasised it was a preliminary inquiry,Reuters says.
Media reports have widely quoted Nigeria Women’s Football League boss, Dilichukwu Onyedinma, as saying lesbian players would not be allowed to compete.
It is a tricky issue for FIFA, however, because homosexuality is illegal under Nigerian law.
The Nigeria’s National Assembly recently passed a bill prohibiting same-sex marriage, and it only needs the approval of President Goodluck Jonathan to become law in the country.

Coach Keshi says he wishes Shola Ameobi was part of the victorious Nigerian team.
Super Eagles Coach, Stephen Keshi, said on Monday that he missed Newcastle Ace,Shola Ameobi, at the just concluded 2013 African Cup of Nations , AFCON, in South Africa.
“Honestly speaking, I missed Shola Ameobi (at the AFCON). In the game against Venezuela, he had a different presence in the locker room, he came in with this coaching ability and togetherness, when he talks to these boys they listen. This was the first time he was coming,” he said.

The Sunday Telegraph says the group will be backed by funds from Qatar and the United Arab Emirates and the offer will far exceed the £800 million paid by the Glazers for Manchester United.

UEFA Reject Drogba Appeal
UEFA have rejected the protest lodged by Schalke over the eligibility of Galatasaray striker Didier Drogba to play in the Champions League match between the two sides.
The German side had asked European football’s governing body to investigate whether Drogba was allowed to play in the last-16, first-leg tie on 20 February, following his move from Chinese side Shanghai Shenhua.
However, in a statement on their website, UEFA said: “Having examined all the documents of the case, the Control and Disciplinary Body decided to reject the protest lodged by Schalke.”
Former Chelsea player Drogba, 34, agreed to join Galatasaray on 28 January after ending his short stay with Shenhua amid claims he had not been paid his salary.

Ghana defender John Paintsil has been arrested by the Legon Police in Accra for allegedly stabbing his wife, Richlove, in the eye on Friday afternoon.
