David Beckham played his last game as a footballer tonight, with the Englishman captaining PSG in their last home game of the season.
Beckham had looked emotional before the game, waving to the crowds and blowing kisses to his fans during the warm up for his final match.
And eventually bursted into tears as he was substituted off in the second half, with everyone in the stadium according him a standing ovation.
A visibly upset Beckham was surrounded by the PSG players who hugged him one by one as he walked off.
As his name was read out over the stadium’s speaker system, PSG fans gave out a huge cheer and continued to chant ‘Stay David, Stay’ throughout the match.
His wife Victoria and their four children Romeo, Brooklyn, Cruz and Harper all flew in from London to witness David put the

Rafael Benitez talking to ITV: “It was a great performance in the second half. We had some problems in the first half against a very good team but I’m really pleased for the players, for everyone involved.
“We didn’t have the legs. We had to adjust and push them and in the end they deserve it because they’ve been working so hard the whole season.
“Obviously I’ll be proud because it was not easy. We have been talking about this all the time. So really pleased, really proud.”

On the eve of captaining Chelsea in a major European final, Frank Lampard is understood to have agreed a one-year deal to remain at Stamford Bridge until the end of the 2013-14 season.
The news will be music to the ears of Chelsea supporters and neutral fans who admire the work ethic and professionalism that Lampard displays. While he isn’t expected to be starting every game next season with so much depth at the club, Lampard is understood to have agreed a financial pay cut to stay at the club instead of taking up an offer to join Major League Soccer.
Lampard will captain Chelsea in Amsterdam tomorrow against Benfica in the Europa League Final (which, for US viewers, will be televised live on FOX Soccer).

As reported by Goal.com on Sunday, the club’s defeat to Wigan in the FA Cup final proved the last straw for the City owners, who said in a statement that the Italian had failed to achieve any of the team’s targets for the season.
The decision comes exactly one year to the day since Sergio Aguero’s dramatic late goal saw Mancini’s side clinch their first league title for 44 years, with Malaga coach Manuel Pellegrini expected to be unveiled as his replacement at the Etihad Stadium.
“It is with regret that Manchester City announce that Roberto Mancini has been relieved of his duties as manager,” read a statement on the club’s official website.
“This has been a difficult decision for the owner, chairman and board to make and it is the outcome of

Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard has scored his 202nd and 203rd goals for the Blues against Aston Villa, breaking Bobby Tambling’s record as the club’s highest goalscorer.
The 34-year-old held off the attentions of Nathan Baker and Ashley Westwood to equalise against the relegation-threatened side and pull level with the 43-year-old record, before completing the comeback with a neat finish from Eden Hazard’s cutback as the game entered stoppage time.
The 61st-minute goal was Lampard’s 15th in the Premier League this season, reaching double figures in the league for the 10th successive season.

Wayne Rooney faces a backlash from Manchester United fans after it emerged he asked outgoing manager Sir Alex Ferguson for a transfer two weeks ago.
Fans took to Twitter and message boards to urge the club to sell the England striker after Sportsmail exclusively revealed that Rooney is seeking a fresh start elsewhere
The news will interest Chelsea, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain, who are favourites to sign the £25m-rated frontman.
Rooney also recently removed the words ‘Manchester United player’ from his Twitter profile, replacing them with ‘Nike Athlete’.
His representatives insisted no change had been made recently and it later emerged that a number of other Nike-sponsored players – including United team-mate Tom Cleverley – had made similar changes to their social media
Manchester United have confirmed that David Moyes will replace Sir Alex Ferguson at Old Trafford and will take over as manager from the 2013-14 season.
“When we discussed the candidates that we felt had the right attributes we unanimously agreed on David Moyes. David is a man of great integrity with a strong work ethic,” Sir Alex Ferguson told the club’s official website.
“I’ve admired his work for a long time and approached him as far back as 1998 to discuss the position of Assistant Manager here. He was a young man then at the start of his career and has since gone on to do a magnificent job at Everton. There is no question he has all the qualities we expect of a manager at this Club.”

Sir Alex Ferguson has retired as manager of Manchester United, the club have confirmed.
71-year-old Ferguson, the most successful manager in English football history, has been in charge of the club since 1986 and will step down at the end of the season.
His last game in charge will be at West Brom on May 19 and he will join the club’s football board.
In a statement on the club’s official website, he said: “The decision to retire is one that I have thought a great deal about and one that I have not taken lightly. It is the right time.
“It was important to me to leave an organisation in the strongest possible shape and I believe I have done so. The quality of this league winning squad, and the balance of ages within it, bodes well for continued success at the highest level whilst the
Jose Mourinho knew he had to quit Real Madrid after seeing the way on-loanChelsea midfielder Michael Essien had been treated by his ‘teammates’.
The Sun says the on-loan Chelsea star invited all his Madrid colleagues to his birthday bash but only a handful of them turned up.
And it was left to the Bernabeu boss to console his upset player.
He told the Ghana international that it was nothing personal — it was not that his team-mates did not like him and, sadly, it was not because they had anything better to do.
It was simply because they were more interested in themselves than anything or anyone else.

LUIS SUAREZ has been given a 10-match suspension for his shocking bite attack on Branislav Ivanovic.
The Liverpool hot-head yesterday admitted a charge of violent conduct.
Suarez’s season has officially ended today after an independent panel hit him with the bumper ban. The standard punishment for violent conduct is three games but the FA had claimed that was “clearly insufficient”.
Suarez last night denied he should recieve extra punishment but the FA have today got their way and the Uruguay bad-boy is now facing a lenghty spell on the sidelines.

Liverpool striker Luis Suarez was again at the center of controversy today after it appeared that he bit Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic during the 2-2 tie at Anfield.
Suarez should have been red carded for the incident. By escaping punishment, Suarez stayed on the pitch and was able to score an injury-time goal in the 97th minute to equalize.
The incident involving Suarez isn’t the first incident of Suarez biting an opponent. While at Ajax, the Uruguayan striker bit Dutch footballer Otman Bakkal.
When interviewed regarding the incident, Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers said, “This is a club with incredible values and ethics. We’ll review it as a club, because there’s certainly no one bigger than this club, a player or manager. As football managers, staff and players, we’re
Nine players have been kicked out of the African Under-17 Championship in Morocco after wrist scans showed them to be over the age limit.
Three players each from Congo-Brazzaville, Ivory Coast and Nigeria have been banned from playing any further part in the competition.

Birth certificates are often either inaccurate or unavailable.
The players to have been excluded are Congo’s Cherlevy-Diabala Carim, Hardy Binguila and Bermagin Kangou, Ivory Coast’s Dagou Britto, Abdul Diarrassouba and Siriki Dembele, and Nigeria’s Onyinye Ndidi, Ibrahim Abdullahi and Emmanuel Asadu.
All three countries’ squads have been reduced to 18 players.

Manchester United have sensationally opened talks with Atletico Madrid about a fee for Radamel Falcao.
Marca says a down payment has been made and that Falcao is just a step away from United.
The sequence of events is nothing new because the same thing happened two seasons ago when David de Gea left the Vicente Calderón to become a Red Devil.
De Gea moved to Old Trafford for around £17m (€20m) while Falcao is expected to cost United around £42m (€50m).
Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich will be shocked by developments, having struck personal terms with Falcao’s camp before Christmas.
