Galatasaray pair Didier Drogba and Emmanuel Eboue will be punished by the Turkish FA (TFF) for the Nelson Mandela tributes that followed their team’s 2-0 victory over Elazigspor on Friday. Former Chelsea striker Drogba paid his respects to the former South African president and freedom fighter, who died on Thursday aged 95, by removing his Gala jersey to reveal a vest which read ‘Thank You Madiba’. Drogba’s fellow Ivorian Eboue, formerly of Arsenal, followed suit, donning a vest which read ‘Rest In Peace Nelson Mandela’.The TFF plans to summon both players before a disciplinary committee as part of a wider crackdown on imagery and messages that they deem to be political, with a fine or a likely sanction. 34year old ex-Super Eagles star, Sam Sodje is currently been investigated in a match-fixing scandal in the UK. Sam, who is the younger brother of footballer Efe sodje, was allegedly caught on tape telling an undercover reporter with The Sun UK magazine that he was paid £70,000 to be sent off the field during a championship match on February 23rd 2013. Footage from the football match showed Sam Sodje hitting the crotch of Oldham Athletic’s player Jose Baxter, repeatedly for no reason which ultimately earned him a red card. Sam admitted to the undercover reporter that his actions were all preplanned for him to be sent off the pitch. He also said it was easy to get other footballers to do same for a fee. Nigeria international goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama has been named as the French Ligue 1 Player of the Month of October, following his impressive performance for Lille OSC within the period under review. The Nigeria international goalie won the award ahead of the likes of PSG’s Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Edison Cavani, after raking in majority of the votes cast. Enyeama raked in 71% of the votes, miles ahead of Ibrahimovic’s 19% and Cavani’s 10%. Father of Kelechi Iheanacho, the top star of the Golden Eaglets team that emerged champion in the recent FIFA U-17 World Cup in United Arab Emirates, has raised alarm over his son’s whereabouts. James Iheanacho alleges his 17-year-old son was taken away by agents without his parents’ consent. “I don’t know the whereabouts of my son. I have not been able to reach him for the past three days,” Mr. Iheanacho decried.
