BIZARRE:14-Year-Old Girl Killed By Her Boyfriend And Set On Fire Because He Thought She Was Pregnant
The family of the 14-year-old Brooklyn girl who was allegedly killed by her boyfriend and dumped on a beach blasted him this morning for cowardly slaying her after he thought she was pregnant.
Police had arrested Christian Ferdinand, 20, in Maine on Tuesday, where he had fled after he allegedly suffocated Shaniesha Forbes, 14, and burnt her body before dumping the remains at Gerritsen Beach.
“On the record, she wasn’t pregnant at all. As a 20-year-old man, that is something you could easily find out,” said her devastated cousin Kerry-Anne Thomas. “You had the courage and the balls to kill her and bring her body, and lay her on the beach. But you couldn’t go to the pharmacy to buy a pregnancy test to find out if it was actually true.”

BIZARRE: Tree kills 31 people, injures 16 others in Imo
Thirty one persons were killed in Imo State when a tree fell on them. The incident happened at the Ukwu Uko evening market at Umuejinwaoke Umudagu Village, Mbieri, Mbaitolu Local Government Area of Imo.
About 16 others sustained various injuries during the incident, which was caused by rainstorm on Thursday night.
A resident of the community, Nnaemeka Emenyonu, said that the tree fell on the affected persons around 8:00 p.m. He said the tree also destroyed the Village Hall.
“The big tree fell suddenly on 31 people, who died at the spot and injured 16 others. Those injured were taken to hospital.
“The victims include two sisters, who sell tomatoes. Honestly, this is a saddest event in the history of our community,” he said.

Northern elders on Thursday broke their silence on the slamming of state of emergency in three of their states, describing the action of President Goodluck Jonathan as an indirect declaration of war on the Northern part of Nigeria.

Man arrested for allegedly duping facebook girlfriend of N850,000
Officials of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps in Ondo State have arrested one Arowolo Femi for duping a girl he met on the Facebook of N850,000 .
Mr. Arowolo was also accused of duping a Reverend Father of his Honda Accord 2007 model with number plate CU 730RSH under the pretext that he would help him sell the car.
A statement by the command’s spokesman, Kayode Balogun, said the suspect was arrested in Akure after the girl he duped came to report him.
Mr. Balogun said in March 2013, the suspect duped one reverend father (name withheld) of his Honda Accord 2007 model by lying to his younger sister that he would marry her. She then introduced him to the reverend and he prayed for them.

Lagos State Government Kicks Against Hijab In Public Schools
Lagos State Government says pupils in its public schools are only allowed to wear conventional uniforms to the school.
It added that usage of other appendages, including Hijab, a head scarf for Muslim women, would not be allowed.

A terrible accident occurred today around 5pm at Ijoju, Sango Ota, that left two people dead. A trailer used in conveying sharp sand crushed an Okada man and his female passenger while they were trying to cross the road. The bodies were left there for a bit before it was removed. Nigeria’s former president, Olusegun Obasanjo, has begun a mission to introduce African countries to Nigeria’s innovation in bakery, Cassava Bread.
Mr. Obasanjo, a goodwill ambassador for the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture, IITA, recently took the bread to Tanzania where he publicly munched the bread with the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Mrisho Jakaya Kikwete.
Former President Benjamin Mkapa of the United Republic of Tanzania also ate the bread for the first time. The leaders supported the innovation, noting that it would bring several benefits to the continent.
The 40 per cent cassava bread was first developed by IITA in Nigeria, as part of efforts to boost the utilization of cassava and create market for farmers.

Collapsed Building In Abia Left Many Trapped Inside Leaving 5 Feared Dead
Seven persons were feared dead when a building under construction in Agbama area of Umuahia, the capital of Abia State collapsed yesterday night at about 8 o’clock.
It was gathered that an unspecified number of people are still trapped in the rubble as the Red Cross, a construction firm and security agencies are currently involved in rescue exercise.
