Greetings,
Yesterday, our primary domain www.thenetng.com was compromised by internet hackers, who criminally gained access to our servers and illegally took possession of our identity.

The journey of scores of motorist travelling on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway was interrupted by the flood which divided a large part of the road.
The flood which followed a heavy downpour on Tuesday divided the Lagos-Ibadan expressway around the Otedola Estate area causing traffic congestion of both sides of the road.
Pictures and comments on social media indicate that several other parts of the Lagos metropolis are flooded causing traffic congestion. Most residents of Lagos have been looking forward to the rain as a relief from the constant heat that comes with the dry season but the corresponding flooding seems to turn the blessings of the rain to a bitter curse.
In the last two years, Lagos and other states across the country had recorded fatal cases of flooding, while some were disastrous

Despite my educational background in the Sciences, till today, should a stranger ask me what time is it by my wristwatch or a description to where he says he’s going, the first thing I do before answering is touch my forehead, the middle of my chest, the right and left sides of my chest and then would hum the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. And after I had answered, before the stranger walks out of my sight, I would pocket one of my hands and through the inner linen of my trousers to my boxers — grope for this thing that people say makes one a man. It is to ensure that it has not been stolen by this unknown person.
My over-sensitivity when answering a stranger comes from an experience of many years ago. It was in my teenage years in Ilorin. On a dull evening,
Carnival is a festive season that occurs immediately before Lent (the last celebration before lent); the main events are usually during February.
Carnival typically involves a public celebration or parade combining some elements of a circus, mask and public street party. People often dress up or masquerade during the celebrations, which mark an overturning of daily life.
The carnival was a time of fun, laughter and merriment. However, from the 1970s to the early 2000s, the great Lagos festivals of Carnival, Eyo and Egungun were marred by violence between youths from different sections of Lagos or groups of masquerades. These festivals became synonymous with injury, destruction and death.
The Lagos State Government, headed by Babatunde Fashola, decided to get involved in organising the Carnival

TOLIARA, Madagascar (AFP) – With small, silent steps, 10-year-old Borikely carefully picks her way through the tall grass of a Madagascar field in search of her dinner. She’s hunting for grasshoppers, which she’ll catch with a stick.
Once speared, she places them carefully in a small round straw basket and within a few minutes, she has collected dozens of insects.
This is Borikely’s only meal of the day, revealing the extent of the food crisis that has gripped the Indian Ocean island since cyclone Haruna hit three weeks ago.
“I don’t like grasshoppers, but I am forced to eat them since the cyclone because I am hungry,” Borikely told AFP.
The storm killed 26 people and affected nearly 40,000 more, devastating several villages and forcing thousands of people to cram into emergency

The global anti-corruption organisation Transparency International has also called on President Jonathan to rescind the pardon granted to Alamieyeseigha.
In a press statement made available to Elombah.com, the organisation said:
“This decision undermines anti-corruption efforts in Nigeria and encourages impunity. If the government is serious about uprooting public corruption, sanctions against those who betray the public trust should be strengthened, not relaxed,” said Akere Muna, vice-chair of Transparency International.
“Mr. Alamieyeseigha will now be able to stand for public office again.
“President Jonathan should show that he is committed to fighting corruption and endorse the efforts of law enforcement agencies to end impunity for corrupt officials.

The Presidency on Thursday said the former Governor of Bayelsa State, Chief Diepriye Alamieseigha, was responsible for the high volume of crude oil being exported by the country.
Speaking while defending the pardon granted the former governor on Tuesday by the Federal Government for his conviction for corruption, the Presidency said that Alamieseigha had also become remorseful after serving his jail term.

President Goodluck Jonathan on Friday warned that his administration would no longer tolerate a situation where security operatives are killed at will in any part of the country.
He also vowed not to withdraw soldiers attached to the Joint Task Force deployed in troubled parts of the country until normalcy returns to the affected areas.
Jonathan spoke at a town hall meeting in Maiduguri as he concluded his working visit to Borno State which has remained in the centre of activities of members of the fundamental Islamic sect, Boko Haram, that have been responsible for bombing campaigns in the northern part of the country.
He said, “I cannot preside over this country as a president and security officers are killed. These people leave their families, stay on the road and the bush so that
