Despite my educational background in the Sciences, till today, should a stranger ask me what time is it by my wristwatch or a description to where he says he’s going, the first thing I do before answering is touch my forehead, the middle of my chest, the right and left sides of my chest and then would hum the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. And after I had answered, before the stranger walks out of my sight, I would pocket one of my hands and through the inner linen of my trousers to my boxers — grope for this thing that people say makes one a man. It is to ensure that it has not been stolen by this unknown person.
My over-sensitivity when answering a stranger comes from an experience of many years ago. It was in my teenage years in Ilorin. On a dull evening,
I join my fellow countrymen in praying for the Nigerian Army Contingent to Mali.
I found the prayer bellow on line and feel it is applicable to the Men and Women who volunteered to serve and if possible pay the supreme sacrifice in the protection of our homeland and in answering any call to duty in the name of NIGERIA.
Like I said in my previous post. I support President Goodluck Jonathan in this particular mission. I am convinced he made the right call in sending Nigerian troops to Mali. We can not afford to have a base in West Africa for terrorists, claiming to be “JIHADISTS”
In as much as I believe that the AU and ECOWAS should have handled the Mali situation better, including looking into the legitimate demands of the Tuaregs for self determination, and a secondary role for

Really, I couldn’t stop looking like a fool, as I looked at girl after girl, different thoughts in my head, as I waited for the traffic just by the junction to my office to move.
I rolled down my glass a bit more, took off my glasses, and winked at the black, plus-sized one. She smiled, gave what was supposed to be a seductive pose, and moved towards my car. Then I drove forward a bit, laughing. Her colleague, with whom she was discussing me earlier, got my message and moved towards me. Slim, tall and dark, the way I like my women, she ‘arranged’ her goods, laughed out loud, convinced she’d make the night’s sale…
Poor girl, I thought, as I drove off.

Newly re-elected US President Barack Obama is to make a major speech on the economy today and a historic visit to Myanmar later this month. But the talking point of the moment is an emotional visit he paid to thank his campaign team at his Chicago headquarters.“What you guys have done means that the work I’m doing is important. And I’m really proud of that. I’m really proud of all of you,” he said, unable to complete his message as the tears got the better of him, to sustained applause from staff. He told them his work in running for office had come “full circle”, and praised them for being much more efficient than he had been as a young community organiser.Obama also became emotional in his final campaign rally in Iowa on Monday night. The surprise announcement that he is to become

A man linked to an anti-Islam video that sparked riots across the Muslim world has been held without bond after a hearing in Los Angeles, California.

He has not been detained over the contents of the inflammatory video. Nakoula, who allegedly produced the 14-minute trailer for the film Innocence of Muslims, was banned from accessing the internet or using an alias without an officer’s permission under the terms of his probation.

The insanity started like a joke with #NoMakeUpTuesday then #AbsWednessday which degenerated into #BoobsThursday and now #DickFriday hash tag is trending on Twitter Nigeria! What do you make of that? What do these emerging trends reveal about our state as a people?
With Nigeria’s 52nd Independent Anniversary less than two weeks away, it is pathetic that we are conspicuously 52 years behind civilization, despite every tool for advancement at our disposal. We don’t just seem to have the capacity to harness whatever advantage we’ve got, instead, we destroy ourselves with them like an insane man with a loaded gun.
Instead of religion to help us find our true self, spirituality and serenity, it has birthed damaging hate, hostility and untold pains. Our educational institutions has

Three members of the US Secret Service have been forced to leave the agency in a prostitution scandal that has embarrassed President Barack Obama’s administration.
The Secret Service did not identify the three agents or eight others it said would remain on administrative leave. In a statement, it said one supervisor was allowed to retire and another will be fired. A third employee, who was not a supervisor, has resigned.
The prostitution scandal, that is alleged to have happened ahead of Mr Obama’s visit to Colombia, also involved about 10 military service members and as many as 20 women. All the Secret Service employees who were involved had their security clearances revoked.
The scandal erupted last week after 11 Secret Service agents were sent home from the city of Cartagena after
Goodluck Ebele Azikiwe Jonathan exemplifies the African political renaissance at a time when the people of the continent are starting to reap the fruit of their resources and their hard work. President Jonathan, 54, possesses the qualities needed at this moment of great challenges, having come to power at a crucial moment in the history of Nigeria. The country has grown out of its past of corruption, mismanagement and brutality, but the foundation of good governance is still fragile.
In two short years, President Jonathan has shown the same dexterity he demonstrated as governor of Bayelsa, the same ability to find the remedies to the many complexities of running a nascent democracy. He has spearheaded the fight against corruption and turned Nigeria into an example of good governance. He has
As expected, American nominee Jim Yong Kim has been named the next President of the World Bank according to sources within the bank. Mr. Kim was nominated by United States President Barak Obama last month to replace Robert Zoellick, who has held the position since 2007.
Earlier in the day, Nigeria’s Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala surprisingly admitted she did not really expect to be named to the coveted position. She told journalists, “You know this thing is not really being decided on merit…It is voting with political weight and shares, and therefore the United States will get it.”
Her defeatist remarks belied the tremendous energy she had put into returning to the bank as overall boss, but she tried to put a happy spin on it. “We have won a big victory,” she said. “Who gets to
Traffic builds up on the island as the first lady, Patience Jonathan arrives Lagos today. OMG correspondents gathered that different routes have been cordoned off: Bonny camp via Lekki route, Ikoyi route and the popular CMS, leaving the commuters to go through alternative routes.
This has generated several reactions by road users, and it’s been exhaustedly discussed on twitter.
The popular comendian, Basket mouth, on his twitter page wrote ” @basket_mouth: Lagosians…be patient with the Lagos traffic jam, Patience is in town”. More comments have been streaming in.
The traffic jam would stay as long as the First lady remains. We wish Lagosians safe trip as they log through the terrible hold-up home.
