In Nigeria, some movie stars have proven again and again that they can guarantee return on investment as long as their faces adorn the poster.
They are Genevieve Nnaji, Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde, Omoni Oboli, Funke Akindele and Nse Ikpe-Etim.
Or how else could one explain the success of box office hits like Mirror Boy, Ije, and Tango With Me all having Genevieve Nnaji starring in them? And what about Figurine and Anchor Baby which both starred Omoni Oboli as the lead actress?
Mirror Boy, Tango With Me, Last Flight to Abuja and Phone Swap all had sizeable negative reviews, yet they topped the box office, made huge profit and left many Hollywood movies far behind.

Nollywood actress, Imelda Ada Okwori, who has featured in movies such as Law Abiding, Santana Ladies, Wedding Gifts and Alekwu Kidoma speaks about her new love for music, life and other issues.
You recently claimed to have started music from your mommy’s womb, why did you decide to combine this with your acting career?
Yes, this is because my mom also sings and growing up with her was fun. She encouraged me to write songs at a very tender age for weddings, send-off parties and all that. She also taught me how to dance different styles of our cultural music because she had a dancing troupe she formed in her secondary school days. We usually sit back in those days to sing and record Christmas carols and all that. She bought the entire localmusical instruments and so I grew up with these.

Charles Novia’s yet-to-be-released book, Nollywood till November, has been described as the ‘Book of secrets’. There could not be a more apt description for it. In the first published on DailyPost, the producer talked about Omotola’s diva attitude on one of his sets and how he dealt with it.
In this excerpt however, it is about two mega Nollywood faces, Genevieve Nnaji and Stella Damasus. Novia reveals what he tagged as ‘professional rivalry’ between the actresses and what Genevieve was caught doing on set.
Excerpts:
The Producer in me wanted to titillate the audience with a box office pairing never before seen in Nollywood. I had for a few months wondered how it would be like to have Genevieve and Stella Damasus in leading roles in the same movie. They both were audience favourites

Nollywood actor, Emeka Ike, has said he’s leaving Nollywood temporarily to strategise. Speaking to an Encomium reporter exclusively on Sunday July 22nd, the actor said:
“I have not quit Nollywood in the real sense of the word. What I did was to withdraw all my movies from the market, and I mean all the movies that are related with Emeka Ike…and the reason is not far fetched. I am angry with what is going on in the industry. My conscience would not allow me to go on with the decay in the industry. So, I feel that was the best thing to do, to dissociate myself from the problem and stand out! So, henceforth, any Nollywood movie would not involve Emeka Ike. Rather, I want to market all my movies on the label of Emeka Ike Production. If you want to deal with me as an actor,
Despite being a 19-year veteran of video, Izu Ojukwu considers ’76, which he is currently shooting in Ibadan, to be his real debut as a director. In this rare but exhaustive interview, conducted on the set at Mokola Barracks, Ojukwu explains why, to J.K. OBATALA. He also retraces his tortured evolution from child-puppeteer to director of best-selling videos, such as White Waters, Cindy’s Note, Eleventh Hour and the award-winning Sitande. Though self-taught, Ojukwu is a master psychologist on the set. The Lagos-based bachelor shares with this writer some intriguing insight into his methodology. This seminal work in progress, is an historical drama, inspired by the assassination of Murtala Muhammed, the popular Military Head of State, in 1976.
