The Nigerian businessman believed to have facilitated the illegal entry of hundreds of his compatriots into Zimbabwe has been deported.
Emeka Clement Emewusiem alias Emeka Maxwell Emewusiem-Felex was recently convicted and fined US$500 at the Harare Magistrate Courts.
Principal Immigration Officer Mrs Patricia Chifodya yesterday confirmed the deportation.
“I can confirm that he has been deported this (yesterday) afternoon to his home country. He was accompanied to the airport by our officials,” she said.
Since last week Emeka was in custody awaiting to pay his US$500 fine before being deported.
Emeka was arrested by Immigration Department officers in January this year.
He was found in possession of two Nigerian passports.
Emeka operated a restaurant and internet cafes and was the founder of an organisation called Nigerians in Zimbabwe.
He is believed to have made thousands of United States dollars after bringing in hundreds of Nigerians into Zimbabwe illegally
