The Trending Madness on Twitter Nigeria – Gideon Banks
The insanity started like a joke with #NoMakeUpTuesday then #AbsWednessday which degenerated into #BoobsThursday and now #DickFriday hash tag is trending on Twitter Nigeria! What do you make of that? What do these emerging trends reveal about our state as a people?
With Nigeria’s 52nd Independent Anniversary less than two weeks away, it is pathetic that we are conspicuously 52 years behind civilization, despite every tool for advancement at our disposal. We don’t just seem to have the capacity to harness whatever advantage we’ve got, instead, we destroy ourselves with them like an insane man with a loaded gun.
Instead of religion to help us find our true self, spirituality and serenity, it has birthed damaging hate, hostility and untold pains. Our educational institutions has done a great job producing millions of clueless and defeated minds that cannot be entrusted with even the most mundane tasks. Our oil has been a curse! Over dependency on the “black gold” has literarily shut down our producing capacity as a nation. A few greedy folks wastefully squander our rich natural resources at the detriment of impoverished masses.
