UNILORIN Student Jailed for Cyber crime and Impersonation

It was a tense atmosphere yesterday for the family and friends of a 25-year-old student of the University of Ilorin, Imonina Kingsley, as Justice Mohammed Shuaibu of a Federal High Court in Kaduna pronounced a 20 year jail term for the chap.

He was sentenced on four-count of impersonation, possession of fraudulent documents and attempt to obtain money by false pretences.

Kingsley, who will spend five years on each of the four counts, resides at Rubby Hostel, Tipper Garage, Ilorin, Kwara State.

The convict was arrested on April 4, 2008, during a special operation code-named, Operation Cyber Storm 1 at Wave Network Net Cyber Café on Pipeline Road, Tanke, Ilorin, Kwara State.

He was said to have used the false identity of one Mr. Thomas Duke, a supposed gay, with the email address given as thomasduke4luv@yahoo.com to send fraudulent mails with intent to defraud unsuspecting victims
